I have been thinking about resolutions. New Year’s resolutions have never been something to which I give much thought but lately I keep returning to the thought of setting them. With a little self reflection, I have landed on one resolution: to be present where I am.
I feel like I spend a lot of time fast forwarding to the next thing. I do this at work, by planning dinner in my head. I do this when cooking, by dreaming of a new kitchen. I do this by driving too fast to get to the next event. I sit in Bible study and think if the things I need to do when I get home. I am constantly racing to the next thing. But I find that when I can keep from racing, life is better. Conversations are sweeter. Friendships become deeper. I get to know my husband a little bit more, rather than the status of all of my facebook friends. I am going to race forward less, and be more aware of where I currently am. May it be so.

I may have to steal your resolution, sweet friend!
It’s a great one!
