A plan for the guest bathroom.

I am still mulling over a plan for our guest bathroom.  It seems to be a doable project that I can wrap my brain around.

Here it what it currently looks like.

We are not in a position to tear up tile, and replace stuff.  We will work with what we have.  I sort of like the pink.  We call it vintage, rather than outdated.  It makes me like it more.

Rather than add pink to the already very pink room, I think we will use the black and white.

It definitely needs a curtain.  I am thinking of using the no sew method, which I have never attempted.  My other option would be to con my mother into sewing a curtain for me, or paying to have it done.  The no sew option seems to be the best.  I will save my money and my conning for the next projects.

This fabric has a good price point and is the front runner in my search so far.  I would turn it vertical, rather than horizontal.  Any other ideas?

We have a lot of storage but no counter tops.  I would love to have a place for a hair dryer, toiletries, etc.  I think I will remove the cabinet doors on the cabinets on the right in the above picture–just the mid-level ones.  If I paint the inside of the cabinets and line the backs or paint them, I think I will get the look I am going for.  We will also need to paint all the woodwork–white.

I am tempted to keep the light, but just clean it up a bit.  Or replace it with a few pendant lights.  I can’t decide.

I would, however, like to replace the mirror with something larger, and perhaps framed.  Perhaps even several?  It needs to be functional.

For the walls…

I am tempted by a few paint colors that are favorites in the blog world.  Both are Martha Stewart.

Martha's Bedford Gray

Martha's Sharkey Gray

Clearly, my plan is still in development.  Feel free to give me your two cents!

We have a “vintage” guest bath similar to this…powder blue tile version. We also have the built in cabinets/hamper. Cute knobs from Anthro, cute rugs and shower curtain, and a coat of paint did wonders! Can’t wait to see yours!

  2. We recently painted our GB gray and I love it! I love all your ideas. Can’t wait to see the finished product.

I’LL GO TO THE FABRIC DISTRICT HERE AND SEE IF I CAN FIND A VERTICAL BLACK AND WHITE FABRIC THAT MIGHT WORK AND SEND A PHOTO. I’M GUESSING YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE A PLASTIC LINER. I LIKE THE DARKER GREY BUT CONSIDER THE SOURCE…A PERSON WITH ABSOLUTELY NO DECORATING SENSE!!

  4. I love the old light since you’re doing “vintage.” And just a word of warning before you rip out the old medicine cabinet. New ones are expensive. Like over 100 for ones that are not tiny and look sleek. We ended up putting our old one back in after we had already taken it out! But my brother had a better solution–he had a piece of mirror bevel cut to the size he wanted and just replaced the door part of the cabinet–the mirror–and kept the inside. brilliant.

    Love it. Keep it coming!

Love your ideas. Love the grey paint, the top one is my fav. I also like the idea of keeping the vintage light. Can’t wait to be a guest in your house!
