Tuesday update.

No real news.  This afternoon marked 24 hours since she has been removed from the machines.  It seems as if Mamie’s breathing has slowed maybe a little but not by much.  She has had some visitors today and Mom and Dot have stayed all day.  They prayed over her and anointed her (with Nivea because it was what they had in their purse, hehe).  Mom wrote a really sweet prayer as they anointed her that is absolutely worthy of sharing….

From Mercy San Juan Medical Center
Dorthy and Lee Ann’s anointing of Mother for her journey from this life to heaven.

Teach us O Lord your holy ways.
In your service we find our soul’s delight, as did our mother.
Bless us Lord in this act of love.

Lord, thank you for giving Mom your message of wisdom and discernment.   Through your Spirit you prompted her heart and mind to know what you wanted her to know for the ministry of your saints.
I Cor 12:8

Your brother James teaches us to pray over and anoint Mother with oil in your holy name.  In the name of Jesus we anoint you Mother.
James 5:14-15

From everlasting to everlasting your love is with us who fear you and claim your righteousness for all generations—for us, our children and our children’s children.
Ps. 103:17-18

This last holy sacrament of anointing gives her suffering a meaning and a purpose.

She loved to commune and remember Jesus’ last supper with his disciples each week.  She loved to fellowship with the saints every time they gathered.

And now Lord, please gather your saints in heaven to welcome our dear mother.

Please convey your special graces to calm her spirit.
Humbly and in faith we commend our mother that you, O Lord, give her provisions for the journey from this earth to heaven where she wants to bow before you Lord.
Into your hands we commit her spirit.
We now pray as you taught your disciples…

Our Father in heaven
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive our debts as we also forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever .  Amen

And now we sit and wait on The Lord to receive her spirit.

DSC_0015Very rarely could you capture Mamie in a picture that reflected her “real” spirit.  I think this one is pretty close.  It doesn’t surprise me that she has a shovel in her hand.
